“ I have been to Moongate a few times now and I thought it was finally time to leave a review; since it has become one of my favorite places to go to when in San Francisco. The people, and in turn the service, at Moongate are top tier. The hostess always makes sure to give my friends and I the best spot that is available and they are always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The servers really do set the bar high in regards to how service should be handled. They are welcoming, on-point with service experience and they give the BEST recommendations for menu items; which can be overwhelming because everything looks good. I can say everything I have had has been very good so there are no wrong choices. Their menu feels seasonal with them swapping out certain items but still keeping the staples. I absolutely LOVE the warm olives. They are warmed up and taste meaty. You will salivate thinking about them once you have had them once. If you are hungry, go there and don't know what to order. Burger. Get the burger. The burger. For those in the back, THE BURGER! The scallops are PHENOMENAL too. As far as drinks go, it sounds like an eye roll but you REALLY can't go wrong with any of the drinks. I have resorted to just telling our server what kind of taste I am looking for and whatever they offer has always been good. If you are someone who wants to keep it lowkey and go for an espresso martini kind of night, they have something called the Major Snow, which basically is a blended espresso martini. Something about how they blend the ice makes it the smoothest blended drink. I HIGHLY recommend Moongate. The music, ambiance and the vibe can be summed up as captivating, lively, sexy and good vibes. ”

“ A wonderful start of the birthday month! The moment I stepped inside everyone was so warm, welcoming and cheerful. Additionally, they each took the time to ask who was celebrating and provided a Happy Birthday! We made reservations ( highly recommended) and scored high back chairs with a view facing the bar. Highly recommend the negroni and the house cocktail vernal equinox with the house made potato chips. The background music provided a nice vibe while still able to have a conversation with your party. ”

“ Been waiting to come here for so long and never had good luck but I finally managed to get inside! Most likely because there wasn't a private event, it was raining, and it was 8pm on a Friday. But alas we were able to get a seat since someone didn't show up for their reservation. My friends that have been here before say it's usually packed so be cautious. They have a coat rack at the entrance which is so convenient especially on a rainy day when you just want to ditch your jacket and let it dry. The staff was super nice especially the girl managing the reservations. She held our take out bags and umbrella for us while we enjoyed our drinks. The ambiance of this place is unbeatable. The mood lighting really sets the tone and the dj did not miss on keeping the vibes up throughout the night. I think my only gripe with the place is they definitely could fit more highboy tables in the back area to allow more room for people to plop themselves at. Saw too many groups just standing around unsure of where to place themselves. They don't really cater to walk ins super well here (unless you're lucky or it's not busy)! But overall really enjoyed it! The place below also offers free matchboxes if you're into that kind of thing! Took 2 for myself on the way out! ”

“ We went for drinks. It was lovely, we each had something different and all were great. One gal was pregnant so had a shrimp cocktail, which was also amazing, and not expensive. ”

“ A nice and sleek place to enjoy a cocktail or two and enjoy a nice conversation. The interior is nice and seating area are distanced from each other allowing for a private conversation and social distancing. The cocktails were unique and tasty. The Frost's Decent (bourbon, green walnut, honey-sesame foam) had this nice taste from the foam, but you can definitely taste the alcohol in it. The White Dew (rum, pear brandy, pandan, coconut, citrus) was very refreshing. This one can definitely creep on you after a few. Overall, cool place to get a drink or two. ”

“ I’ve popped in here over the years, and on different types of occasions: birthday party with a large group, a date, and grabbing food downstairs with a friend. Each time has been a vibe. Each time it’s always been incredibly busy, and I understand why: it’s one of the only modern cocktail bars in this part of SF, and offers a really good selection of food and music/DJs. The drinks are interesting and well balanced, and the staff have always been super accommodating and friendly. If I still lived in Chinatown I’d come here weekly to start the night or for a nightcap. ”
